Centurion Provides Rental Package for Decommissioning Project to Help Restore Seabed
List of Services
Scope of Work
An internationally recognized marine contractor required critical support to execute a major subsea decommissioning project in offshore New Zealand. The aim of the project was to remove redundant infrastructure and help restore the seabed to its natural condition, supporting long-term environmental sustainability.
Execution
Centurion's Subsea Services and Accommodation & Modular business lines joined forces to deliver a tailored rental equipment package under a six-month contract.
Centurion provided technicians, deck support equipment, and large shears to remove 40,000 metres of redundant subsea flowlines. Once recovered from the seabed, the flowlines were cut into 12-metre sections using 1,000-ton capacity shears configured for optimal performance.
To support continuous operations and reduce vessel time, Centurion also supplied a fully operational workshop container equipped with critical spares and tooling.
Outcome
Specialist subsea equipment and services supported the safe removal of redundant offshore infrastructure in New Zealand waters.
Working under a tight timeline, Centurion delivered the project efficiently, safely, and responsibly. The bespoke equipment configuration and integrated team approach maximized uptime and ensured precision execution of complex subsea operations.
This project demonstrates Centurion’s ability to support environmental goals while delivering specialist equipment and services that reduce vessel costs and help restore aquatic environments.
