Meet the President - Chris Gindl

Q. Tell us about your professional background and industry experience.

A. “I studied Communications with a Business minor at the University of Calgary, and after graduating I moved overseas to teach English – first in Japan and then in Istanbul, Türkiye. An opportunity came up to move to Ecuador to run a small business selling industrial coatings for corrosion prevention. That experience really cemented how much I enjoyed being in business.

“When I came back to Canada, I joined the corporate team of an oilfield services company, which fuelled my interest in capital markets. I began the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program and eventually moved into equity research at major Canadian bank. I spent about five years as a research analyst before taking a corporate strategy role with an electrical and instrumentation company, and later moving into investment banking, focusing heavily on M&A.

“From there, I held operational and strategic leadership roles at a couple other Canadian energy services companies, where I ran a corporate transformation and expanded operations into Eastern Canada. Ultimately, I joined Centurion because it felt like the perfect opportunity to take on a fantastic leadership role – and here I am!”

Q. What does a typical day look like for you as Regional President?

A. “My day is primarily centred around communication – connecting with teams, understanding what’s happening across the region, and ensuring we’re aligned on how to succeed in the market.

“A typical day usually includes a handful of structured meetings, whether with sales, operations, or individual business lines. Much of my time is spent discussing strategy – how we’re growing the business, new customers we’re targeting, and how we’re addressing operational challenges in the field.

“I also block time to think about the bigger picture and where our efforts need to be focused. I try to centre my thinking around five key pillars: revenue, operations, business processes, procurement, and culture. As the role grows, it becomes increasingly clear that success is really about people – having great people and ensuring they work well together.”

Q. What makes your regional team stand out?

A. “Our team stands out because of the depth of expertise we have in every business line. We operate in a competitive space where many companies offer similar products – the difference is in execution.

“The excellence of our people, their knowledge, and their ability to deliver outstanding service is what sets Centurion Canada apart. Our customers consistently tell us how much they value the communication and support they receive from our teams.”

Q. Tell us about your proudest achievement with Centurion to date.

A. “In my first year, my priority was to understand our people, our business lines, and our operations across Canada. I’m very proud of the team we have – the quality of the people here is exceptional.

“My proudest achievement so far is the work we’ve done to build a more integrated Canadian team. That has meant adjusting the structure, welcoming new people, and ensuring we’re all operating as one Centurion. It’s a journey, but we’ve made real progress, and it forms the foundation for everything we want to achieve going forward.”

Q. What excites you most about the future with Centurion?

A. “For me, it’s the growth opportunity – growing our business across Canada into something broader and more nationally representative, beyond just the oil and gas sector. As we grow, we’ll be able to support, develop and expand the talented people in our business, extend our geographic footprint, generate new ideas, and serve more customers in more diverse markets. I’m excited about what we can build together.”

Q. When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A. “I love being active and outdoors. In the winter, downhill and cross-country skiing is my favourite thing to do. I grew up ski racing at Lake Louise, and now my partner, kids and I go together. In the summer, I love hiking, spending time in the interior British Columbia around the lakes, and doing some camping. Calgary is a great city in the warmer months – all two of them! I also really enjoy cooking. I find it relaxing because it’s hands‑on and creative.”
